Bringing the Indoors Out 5

A Perfect Patio From Salins Group

For decades designers have heralded the merits of “bringing the outdoors in.” Splashy wallpapers decked in tropical leaves, botanical prints, verdant green fabrics and paints and accents—trends pulled from the outdoors have been tacked on inspiration boards for years.

But as of late, there’s been an awakening, a much more sensical approach to enjoying the outdoors: rather than bring the outdoors in, why not bring the indoors out?

Luxury living spaces have found sure footing in the 21st century’s patios, porches and decks. Fireplaces, fancy fixtures and even full-sized kitchens are no longer solely the territory of rooms that include four walls and a roof. And in Charlotte, where we can spend just about 365 days a year enjoying the South’s seasons, our outdoor living spaces are quickly becoming our favorite rooms.

As with all things home, not all patios and porches are created equal. We asked local luxury reno experts Salins Group to share their favorite outdoor living space and all the perks that make it perfect. At 1400 square feet and two stories and designed with architect Craig Cox at Cox Architecture & Design, PLLC, these pretty porches bring luxury outdoors—where it belongs.
