Day Runner, Inc. Gives to Harvey B. Gantt Center

Day Runner, Inc., a Charlotte-based on-demand delivery service, donated $100,000 to the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African Arts + Culture to support their 2018 educational and arts programming initiatives for Charlotte. Day Runner is the first Black-owned company to become one of the Gantt Center’s major corporate partners with a monetary gift of this size. The gift will be used for a variety of programming throughout 2018, including educational programming that will allow for 1,000 students to benefit from Gantt Center resources like field trips and in-school artistic workshops.

Dinner with an Artist Studio Party

The Studio Party is McColl Center’s annual fundraiser and artist-focused evening that pairs renowned alumni artists-in-residence, both national and local, with Charlotte’s most passionate arts and culture supporters. The evening includes an intimate dinner with an artist, as well as a contemporary art sale and live auction. Drinks, dessert and dancing merge to celebrate and support the arts in Charlotte! All proceeds from Studio Party benefit McColl Center’s unparalleled and transformative residency experience for artists and our community.

Speed Street

Circle K Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola will bring three days of festive, sensational fun to the streets of Charlotte May 24–26 with live entertainment, access to racing’s brightest stars, giveaways, music and interactive displays. Each day starting at noon, action will ramp up on Tryon Street in Uptown Charlotte with vendor displays, kids’ activities, racing-related fun and more until 8 p.m. National headliners will take the stage in Romare Bearden Park starting at 6:30 p.m. for an evening of musical fun.

South End Hops Festival

RescuedMe’s 5th Annual South End Hops Festival returns on May 19 with over 70 craft brews, two live music stages, cooking with beer demos, and more. The event benefits RescuedMe, a nonprofit that rescues dogs that otherwise have no hope of survival, rehabilitates the pups and places them in loving homes.

For the first time, South End Hops Fest will deliver a week-long series of events leading up to the annual festival, like the release of the first ever South End Hops Fest brew and ice cream created by Triple C Brewing and Golden Cow Creamery. Join RescuedMe on Thursday at Pop the Top to find your forever pup, and on Friday try chef Chris Coleman’s Hoppy Hour bites at the Hoppy Hour Celebration at Stoke. Finally, on Sunday cure your hangover after Saturday’s festival at Roots Cafe with a delicious brunch.
