Tender embraces, holiday celebrations, a dusting of snow—December always bares the most precious gifts. As the final month of each year, it holds the most sacred and selfless duty of all months—to give while letting go.
We image the month of December is to us as a mother is to her children. A mother pours her heart and soul into her children from the very moment they arrive, teaching them the fundamentals of life. And when they grow old enough, she must let them go into adulthood. Similarly, December bestows upon us the gift of time—time to slow down and live in the moment with our dearest loved ones. But it also bids us farewell into each new year.
So as we prepare not only to enter a new year, but a new decade as well, slow down with us. Spend an extra 30 minutes sitting with your children by the fire and listen to the crackle of the flames as you wrap your fingers around a warm mug of tea. Cozy up with your friends and family for a Christmas movie or bake holiday sugar cookies with your grandchildren. Treat yourself to a bubble bath and a glass of wine. Whatever it is, try not to let this month pass without making a conscious effort to slow down and live in the moment. After all, this the last month in this decade! There’s no going back.
And before we bid 2019 farewell, our last item of business is to thank you, South Charlotte, for your continued support. We pride ourselves in crafting a magazine that you look forward to reading each and every month.
May your holidays and new year be filled with joy,
