Charlotte Ballet: Innovative Works Performances Continue

The Charlotte Ballet continues their program, “Innovative Works,” inspired by The Mint Museum’s upcoming exhibition “Immersed in Light: Studio Drift at the Mint,” until Feb. 15. (The series began on Jan 25.) For this program, Charlotte Ballet Artistic Director Hope Muir introduces two new artistic voices to Charlotte audiences—choreographer Duane Cyrus and Resident Choreographer of The Nashville Ballet, Christopher Stuart. There will also be new work added to the program by company dancer Chelsea Dumas. Matinee and evening performances will be available at the Patricia McBride & Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux Center for Dance. Ava Pizzeria Now Open at Optimist Hall

In Nov. 2019, Ava Pizzeria, an authentic wood-fired pizza eatery, opened it’s doors in Charlotte’s hip food hall, Optimist Hall. The restaurant was opened by Joe Maddon, former Chicago Cubs manager that won the 2015 National League Championship Series and was named the 2015 National League Manager of the Year, and his business partner and restauranteur Michael Stewart. U.S. National Whitewater Center Craft Dinner Series

The U.S. National White Water Center’s Craft Dinner Series is a collaboration between the USNWC’s River’s Edge restaurant and local or Carolinas-based breweries. Each Craft Dinner features four courses that are individually tailored to the taste profile of four different beer samples from that evening’s brewery partner. In January, USNWC partnered with Southern Tier Brewing Company on 8th. and Reverly Brewing Co. on the 24th. In February, they will partner with Fonta Flora Brewery on 5th and with Southern Range Brewing on the 21st; both breweries are North Carolina-based. All Craft Dinners begin at 7 p.m., with check-in starting at 6:15 p.m. Each guest will receive a 5-ounce beer sample with each course and an additional selection of beer and refreshments will be available for purchase. Country Day School’s Annual Hance Family Gallery Reception & Art Show

For 12 years, Country Day School has hosted a public art exhibition in the Hance Family Gallery featuring well-known artists and art collections generously shared by members of their community. This year’s exhibit will include works from three separate collections owned by  Country Day Headmaster Mark Reed, as well as Quincy and Christy Lee and Judy and Patrick Diamond. The reception will be held on Feb. 21, from 6-8 p.m. at the Hance Family Gallery, and the exhibit will remain on display through early March 2020.
