This fall, Safe House Project, a national anti-trafficking organization, hosted some of Charlotte’s finest at the Quail Hollow Country Club for their inaugural Black & White Gala. The gala raised more than $190,000 to serve victims of child sex trafficking in the Carolinas and Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest received the Safe House Project Action Award.
In late September, the South Charlotte Lifestyle team held a networking event at Burtons Bar & Grill of Blakeney. The United Negro College Fund held its 17th Annual Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Luncheon on Sept. 28. The sold-out luncheon featured Oprah Winfrey as the keynote speaker and raised $2.3 million. Also in attendance was U.S. Rep. Alma Adams, Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles, Chief Justice Cheri Beasley and Gov. Roy Cooper's Chief to Staff Kristi Jones.
In September, the Humane Society of Charlotte launched a $15 million fundraising campaign to support the construction of its new animal center. To celebrate the launch, a party was held at the Panthers Den in the Bank of America Stadium. Carolina Panthers coach, Ron Rivera, and his wife, Stephanie, will serve as honorary co-chairs of the fundraising campaign.
Apricot Lane Boutique at Stonecrest Shopping Center recently held their Shopping for a Cause event and donated proceeds from sales to KW Cares, a nonprofit organization that provides emergency financial assistance to members of the Keller Williams family. Cantina 1511, also located in Stonecrest Shopping Center, provided delicious Mexican cuisine at the event for shoppers to enjoy.

The Gray Classic is Charlotte's premier golf and networking weekend. It received support from notable businesses and civic leaders while participants gathered to raise funds during a business round table, its Signature Golf Tournament and Women's Empowerment Brunch. The Gray Classic's mission is to help young students to succeed through mentoring programs and networking opportunities.
